Archbold Biological Station seeks an experienced and collaborative Associate Director to join our leadership team in south-central Florida. Located in Lake Placid, Florida, Archbold is an independent nonprofit research, conservation, and education organization with a long history of advancing ecological science and conservation. Since 1941, Archbold has conducted long-term ecological research, stewardship, and education across the Lake Wales Ridge, the Headwaters of the Everglades, and Buck Island Ranch, a 10,300-acre working cattle ranch where science and land management inform the future of working landscapes. The Associate Director is a senior management leadership position that works closely with the Executive Director & CEO to strengthen the people, systems, and internal coordination that support Archbold's mission. The position oversees a portfolio that includes human resources, communications, environmental education, archives, intern and volunteer coordination, event services, and facilities operations. Success in this role depends on strong leadership, organizational management, staff development, and the ability to coordinate work across diverse functions in a mission-driven scientific organization. We seek candidates with substantial experience in organizational leadership, administration, operations, personnel management, and program oversight. Experience in nonprofit, conservation, environmental, educational, or research organizations is strongly preferred. Familiarity with biological field stations and an appreciation for science and scientific research are highly desirable.
