Location: Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, 24061-0321 Description: The Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech seeks a motivated PhD student for a Graduate Research Assistantship focusing on the population dynamics of introduced blue catfish in the Chesapeake Bay as part of a USDA funded 5-year project. The successful candidate will leverage strong quantitative skills to develop statistical age- or size-structured models and simulation models. Key responsibilities include collaborative research coordination, data management, and the dissemination of findings through scientific reports and presentations. Applicants must hold an MS in Fisheries, Biology, Statistics, or a related field. We are looking for an individual with a demonstrated commitment to fish population dynamics and quantitative modeling. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical conservation research while advancing technical and communication skills in a dynamic academic environment.
