*The Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station in Rensselaerville, NY is seeking to fill the Summer Research Fellow (SRF) position for 2027.* *Responsibilities:* The responsibilities of the SRF position focus on supporting the Huyck Preserve’s undergraduate Odum Internship Program and specifically include the following: • Mentoring up to four college interns in the Huyck Preserve’s residential Odum Internship program • Providing a guest lecture and field/laboratory demonstration for the Preserve's high school summer program, and supporting the Odum Interns as they mentor high school students in their own small group research projects • Participating in public outreach while in residence The opportunity exists for the SRF to conduct an optional independent research project appropriate to the Preserve’s mission and its history of field studies (e.g. research in terrestrial or aquatic ecology, evolution, population dynamics, or animal behavior). This is an excellent opportunity to support the next generation of researchers via the internship program and to have the chance to continue or initiate new field research. As one of the oldest independent biological research stations, the Huyck Preserve has an energetic research program with visiting scientists, graduate students, citizen science experiences, and educational programs for students of all ages. *Duration: *This is a six-week position beginning on approximately June 26, 2027 and ending on approximately August 6, 2027. *Compensation:* This is a summer staff position with a salary of $10,000 for six weeks. On-site shared housing (with a private room) is available and included in the position. *Qualifications: *Summer Research Fellows are typically Ph.D.-level scientists. Candidates with significant teaching and research experience and who hold a Master's degree or who are currently Ph.D. candidates may be considered. A strong teaching and field research background is required.
